We are excited you are here to learn more about youth ministry at Etowah United Methodist Church! Our youth ministry program is YTHX, and we strive to equip young adults to better navigate the intersections of life and faith with confidence and community! We strive to offer opportunities for middle school and high school youth to grow in their Christian faith through study, community, retreats, missions, and fellowship.
Due to Covid-19, we have paused our in-person youth gatherings until further notice. However, we relaunched our youth group meetings on Sunday evenings on Zoom on February 27th, 2022!

If you have any questions about YTHX at EUMC, please email Sarah Hoover at, or call her at (828).891.4360 ext. 3!

YTHX Programs

Middle school and High school youth will meet on Sunday nights on Zoom starting February 27th, 2022, due to Covid-19. Each meeting will include fellowship, activities, and a lesson.

Periodically, youth may take this time to meet outside of the church walls for local activities (go out for bowling, ice cream, house gatherings, etc.) or local missions.

This is a special class for middle and high school youth that explores Methodist theology and doctrine. Confirmation typically runs from the beginning of the year until the summer. Upon graduation, youth will become confirmed members of the church.

Events, Retreats, and Missions

throughout the year, youth will have opportunities to attend youth retreats and events. Many of these are put on by our Western United Methodist Conference. Other events such as summer mission trips and local service projects are lead by ministerial staff. For a glimpse of upcoming events, check out the updated column on the right.

We hope you will come and discover the wonderful things God is doing among and through our youth. To sign up for email updates, send an email request to Sarah Hoover at
